What is a Nipple Reconstruction?

Corrective Surgery

Enhanced appearance

Nipple reconstruction is a surgery and may also include tattooing, or both to give your reconstructed nipple and areola better definition, shape and colour. This is something a lot of people do after having a mastectomy due to breast cancer and needing to have their entire breast removed.

It is also called nipple correction surgery, which can solve problems with the appearance of your nipples. This can assist with the problems commonly experienced if you have nipples that stick out or if they lie inverted. Here at Harley Street Skin Clinic, it is usually a day care surgery with local anaesthesia and very little down time and we make sure that the final results boosts your confidence.

Several benefits include:

  • Enhanced appearance
  • Increased confidence
  • Quick recovery
  • Permanent result

The many types

Nipple Lift for Low Nipples

If your nipples fall too low on breasts, you can have them lifted to a better position. This can be performed during a breast lift or reduction. There will be a permanent scar around the areola area, but results are immediate. Functionally significant sensation and breastfeeding ability are usually maintained.

Nipple Reduction for Enlarged Nipple

Big, droopy nipples that can come from breastfeeding or just droops over the years. This surgery can decrease the size of your nipple and render it bigger to make both look better and symmetrical. This can be performed under local anaesthesia with minimal downtime or combined with other breast surgeries.

Inverted Nipple Surgery

Inverted nipples can develop at any time and do not erect the way most normal ones would. Surgery is typically used to release the underlying tissues, but doing so can interfere with breastfeeding. The surgery is done under local anaesthesia. Results are immediate and it has an excellent satisfaction rate. May be used in combination with other breast surgeries.

Accessory Breast Tissue and Extra Nipples

In some cases, extra breast or nipple tissue will appear along the chest or abdomen. Some appear very much like moles, while others become noticeable scars or lump masses. A surgery can completely get rid of these and not allow for them to show up, it eliminates the embarrassment especially if extra nipples start lactating.

Improvement of Areola Irregularity or Asymmetry

It’s normal for areolas to differ in shape and size. If surgery is needed, needed, the irregular areas can be shaved flat by removing a little skin to make them even. If necessary, tissue can be removed from your areola to help reduce its size, or you can add augmentation and take advantage of the size that is perfect for you. Corrections in symmetry and aesthetic appearance can be integrated into breast reconstruction procedures or reduction surgeries.

Male Chest Enhancement

GynaecomastiaGynaecomastia, an overdevelopment of breast tissue in men, , can develop as early as a teen or later in life.A surgical A surgical procedure removes tissue and, and, in addition, addition, repositions nipples for a better appearance. These are cosmetic procedures that significantly enhance both aesthetics and psychological health.

The procedure
Nipple Correction Process
How does nipple surgery work?

By the time you arrive at the clinic, your reconstructive surgeon willwill start drawing where they’re going to make their cuts.

The process is typically straightforward and performed under local anaesthesia. Inverted nipples, on the other hand, would require very small incisions at the base of your nipple in order to access and release milk ducts that cause it to be pulled inward. This is where the ducts underneath are either cut or stretched, depending on severity, pushing the nipple forward.

During the consultation appointment with a practitioner at Harley Street, you can talk about other nipple correction options.

On the other hand, a nipple reconstruction surgery after a reconstructed breast procedure should then be scheduled after 4-6months of months of surgery. Your surgeon will instruct you on how to prepare during your initial consultation and what medications should be avoided the night before the procedure.

Quick Nipple Correction
How long does nipple correction take?

Nipple surgery is an outpatient procedure, meaning that you may go home the same day. In most cases, the surgery is less than an hour.

Nipple Correction Timing
How long do I need to wait for nipple correction surgery after getting reconstructed breast implants?

Nipple reconstruction can take place 3 or 4 months after you have had breast implants placed.

Realistic Nipple Tattoos
Are there non-surgical options for nipple reconstruction?

Nipple tattoos are the go-to option for women who’ve had cancer and breast reconstruction procedures. Today, the best techniques make tattoos look so real that they can be indistinguishable from actual nipples.

Lasting Nipple Enhancement
Is nipple reconstruction surgery permanent?

The results of nipple reconstruction surgery can be long lasting, but the new nipples may flatten somewhat over time and tattoos can fade. However, if necessary you can opt for a touch-up to maintain the post-nipple surgery appearance.
