With over half a million procedures undertaken, you're in safe hands
Ever grasped imploringly at your thighs, wondering why the bulk wasn't just a few inches further around toward the buttock region? Perhaps you've struggled to shift a stubborn pocket of fat from the tummy or despise your cankles and thought 'It's not fair - I've got more than enough fatty tissue, it's just not where I want it!'.
Well, if that is the case, a Fat Transfer could well be the answer you've been looking for.
Fat Transfers, also known as 'Fat Grafts' or 'Lipomodelling', are fast, effective and practically painless methods of redistributing tissue about the body. This might include correcting a lopsided chest, improving the appearance of scarring, adding volume to the buttocks, or even merely enhancing the lips.
The remarkable difference a Harley Street Skin Clinic treatment can provide
Fat Transfers can help correct unwanted volume or bulkiness all over the body. The face, buttocks, tummy, breasts, hips, calves, thighs - in fact, any area that seems to be harbouring 'a little extra' can be a perfect source point for transfers. Doctors are then able to repurpose this naturally-occuring filler, removing it from where you don't want it, and reinjecting it where you do...
Fat Transfers can be compared to the process of grafting - a more advanced, subdermal graft if you will. Transferring fat in this manner causes the body to regenerate new tissue, stimulating the cells as well as replacing any lost volume.
Fat Transfers make use of the body's natural resources to help the body repair itself instead of intervening with any artificial materials that the body might try to reject. In fact forget rejection altogether; the body will accept transferred fat with ease.
If you're toying with the idea of a surgical facelift, breast augmentation, buttock implants or indeed any implant-dependant surgery; a Fat Transfer procedure could do just the trick, offering even better results with significantly less downtime.

The answer to some of the most common questions you may have
It's only natural to have questions if you are considering pursuing a treatment for the first time, and at Harley Street Skin, it's important to us that you feel confident and comfortable at every stage of your journey. To help you find the answers you need, here are a few of the more common quibbles that we find our clients frequently ask...
During Fat Transfers, the fat is harvested and prepared in a similar way to liposuction. Fat is first harvested using a special suction cannula - this ensures that the fat isn't damaged while also making sure that the incisions made are as small as is possible, and therefore scarring minimal.
These live fat cells are then injected in your chosen area (breasts, buttocks, or face for example) using another very fine cannula, which helps to add the fat in tiny increments to forms layers. This creates the most natural volume and shape possible.
Patients also have the option of having a PRP-assisted Fat Transfer (known at Harley Street Skin as an 'Enhanced Fat Transfer') which will additionally work at promoting collagen production by drawing from your body's own supply of healing platelets. This means that treated areas will not only look plumper but more firm, youthful and vibrant.
Fat Transfer is the perfect way to redistribute fat about the body. Feeling particularly bulky in one area and not bulky enough elsewhere? Harvest that same fat from one area, and put it back somewhere else! Fat Transfers are, in essence, two treatments in one.
Correct uneven breasts, add dimension to the hips or volume to the buttocks, add definition to sagging cheeks, plump the lips, fill in deep jowls, augment the chin ... the possibilities are truly endless.
This is usually a one-off treatment, with minor balancing or adjustments sometimes required after 2 to 4 months. The procedure can, however, be repeated at any time to maintain the effects and there is no limit to how many times this procedure can be done.
It should be noted that, due to the fact that Fat Transfers reinject a naturally-occurring resource, the body is often keen to reabsorb it. This means that on average there is only a 50-60% fat survival rating. This in increased to roughly 80% when combined with PRP.
Fat that survives beyond 6 weeks of treatment will generally become a permanent fixture, just like any other living tissue in the body.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and takes about 1 hour to perform, although this is dependant on the area and amount of fat being harvested.
Side effects of Fat Transfer procedures may include bruising, swelling and some temporary numbness around both harvest and reinjection sites. There will also be some residual scarring following treatment although this is minimal (generally no larger than 5 mm in length). Where possible, these will be disguised in the natural creases and/or lines of the face and body.
Slight swelling and bruising can linger for a fair few weeks, but generally speaking, a minimum of 2 weeks is required for full recovery. Having said this, patients are able to (and do) resume normal activities anywhere between 7-14 days of treatment.
You should, however, avoid any intense Cardio for at least 2 months following a Fat Transfer.
This, too, is dependant a lot on circumstance such as the nature of your job, and how much fat was harvested etc. Transfers to the buttocks and chest may require slightly longer from work than low contact areas such as the face or neck.
Ideally, we would advocate a period of 2 weeks from work, although we are aware that many are keen to get back to normality as soon as possible. Doctors will be happy to discuss this with you at your consultation.
