What is a Breast implant replacement?

Implant Enhancement

Why consider implant replacement?

Breast implant replacement is a procedure in which your current breast implants are removed and new ones placed. This is a common procedure that many people seek to revise their implant in type, size or shape and to correct problems with presently-shown implants. It makes the existing breast tissue look and feel better, and make you comfortable with the breast appearance and results.

If you feel like your implants are looking bad, have changed your breast appearance since they were placed or are giving you any discomfort you may want to consider replacing them. It can help you replace the lost look and restore your confidence, if they need replacing then implant replacement surgery is best.

Several benefits include:

  • Better appearance
  • More comfort
  • Increased confidence
  • Long-lasting results
  • Address complications

The many types

Saline to Silicone

You can replace saline implants with silicone if you want a more natural feel. It makes use of the same cut, eliminates scar tissue and substitutes the implants. So, if you consider silicone implants, they are heavier and need one fraction bigger size.

Silicone to Saline

In exchange, the old silicone implants are excised and substituted with saline ones. The technique may also involve some excision of adjacent muscle tissue and leaves minimal scar.

Increasing Implant Size

You can have an exchange of your existing implants to a larger size if you desire bigger breasts. Performed in a single setting, the procedure is an outpatient one done under general anaesthesia and is designed to provide a natural and symmetrical result.

The procedure
Implant Replacement Procedure
How does it work?

Breast implant replacement is a surgical procedure carried out under general anaesthesia. You’re going to be asleep as a result of the process. This typically involves monitoring in the hospital overnight. First is breast implant removal surgery through an incision in the breast crease. Sometimes, the surrounding breast tissue or breast pocket is removed as well in order to make room for new implants.

Prior to the surgery, we will conduct a thorough evaluation and assessment to determine the best course of action for your implants. The placement of the implant is just part of what makes an augmented breast look full and beautiful; occasionally alterations to the size and shape can include tightening or removal of some skin on the outer portion in order to give a better overall contour.

Duration Of The Surgery
How long does the replacement take?

A typical breast implant exchange surgery will last between 1 to 2 hours. Depending on the particulars of this procedure, there could be other reasons for total time spent on breast surgery, such as preparation and recovery.

Managing Scars
Will there be any scarring?

While breast implant replacement scars can fade over time, they are more noticeable to begin with. They typically fade and flatten out over time.

Revision of a breast implant is typically done through an incision in the crease of the breast. If your prior implants were placed through the nipple or armpit, a fresh incision would be created in the breast crease.

Check, Replace, Renew
How often do I need to replace my implants?

The answer depends on the kind of implant and your lifestyle. While regular check-ups from your healthcare provider can make sure that the implants remain intact. Recommendations by the FDA are to screen for rupture 5 years after placement and then, ultrasound or MRI every 2-3 years.

While there are no hard and fast rules about how often implants need replacing, most ladies find they start needing a replacement after approximately ten years. Frequent self-exams and discussions with your surgeon will guide the decision on when it’s time for a new one.

Gentler Than Before
Is it less painful than the initial breast implant surgery?

Replacing breast implants is generally not as painful as the original procedure. If you may be a little sore, puffed up and more or less bruised, that will fade in around seven days to fourteen days. Pain relief medication will take care of any pains during the recovery process.
