DO YOU REMEMBER THE VERY MOMENT YOU DECIDED TO GO AHEAD WITH TREATMENT?

Yes, at the end of my consultation with Dr Khan. I had been thinking about having something done for ages so once I had everything explained to me, and we had decided what would be the most effective for my face (and the least invasive!) I didn’t hesitate.

WHAT WERE YOUR PROBLEM AREAS?

I had always had a chubby face and now, post-fifty, the chubby cheeks had turned into Churchill dog jowls! I had a double chin and my skin was getting crinkly. The hangdog look was difficult to hide and it made me look tired and sad. Being newly single, I felt a bit of a reinvention was required. I just wanted to look fresher, really.

HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS?

I was very happy with the results. The jowls were gone, my jawline was more defined, and over the period of the next few weeks my skin also had plumped up and looked a lot less crinkly! Great results had been achieved and it was minimally invasive. I think it easily took 5 years off me!

WHAT WAS IT ABOUT THE HARLEY STREET SKIN CLINIC THAT TOOK YOUR FANCY?

I always do my homework and had read lots of reviews etc. I found the clinic very welcoming and friendly, and once I met Dr. Khan and Lesley, I found their honest, caring approach very reassuring. Also - and most importantly - there was no sales pitch or exaggeration of either the expected results or the pain I would be in afterwards. I always felt well looked after.

CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE PROCEDURE DAY?

All of my procedures were done under local anaesthetic and I was given oral painkillers as well as something to help me relax.

I was quite nervous, though, and my blood pressure went up a bit but felt safe in the knowledge I was being carefully monitored throughout because of this. Once the medication kicked in, I was absolutely fine. I was even able to talk during my procedures and Dr Khan kept me well informed as he performed each part - which really helped. To be honest, the most uncomfortable part was the actually the numbing injections, but I hate needles so that was to be expected. The rest was completely fine.

HAVE THERE BEEN ANY PERKS THAT YOU WEREN'T EXPECTING?

I think the recovery was much quicker than I expected and although initially I looked like a puffer fish, the swelling subsided very quickly and there was not much after pain either. I was out and about a week later and only actually rested for a couple of days.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL PEOPLE THAT WERE ON THE FENCE ABOUT TAKING A SIMILAR ROUTE?

Do your homework. Get recommendations and look at more than one option. It’s important that you know what’s involved in whatever treatment you decide upon.

On top of that, take your time to think about it, and do not be pressured. I think that's the main thing. That's exactly what gave me faith in Dr Khan and Lesley - they gave me very honest, realistic advice based on my particular case so I was able to come to a decision on my own terms.

Make sure you look at all of the different treatments that would suit your problem first, too. You might go in thinking you need something particular, when there's actually a much less dramatic alternative that'll do the trick!

WOULD YOU CONSIDER POPPING BACK TO THE CLINIC IN FUTURE?

Absolutely, yes. It’s all about the maintenance and I was more than happy with my treatment - the aftercare was excellent too.
