DO YOU REMEMBER THE VERY MOMENT YOU DECIDED TO GO AHEAD WITH TREATMENT?

I just wanted to feel better about myself, nothing too radical. Nothing that meant I would change me particularly - but to refresh myself. That's all I cared about - making sure I looked the same, just slightly fresher.

I think whenever you look at yourself as you get older, you worry about yourself. I had some quite hard years and I felt as though they were etched on my face - I wanted those to be gone!

WHAT WERE YOUR PROBLEM AREAS?

I was concerned about the drooping cheeks, the jowls, the neck… the things that were really ageing.

Essentially, I wanted to look as good as I could, for the age I am - without looking strange or odd, you know? I'm at such a great place in my career: Benidorm, Loose Women… I couldn't want for anything better. I just want to be able to look great for the next 10 years - hopefully more.

HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS?

I’m so thrilled with the result. Having it has given me back my confidence and self-worth. I was sceptical because I thought 'this just can’t do the same as cutting and pulling your face', but in fact, it’s even better. It hasn’t pulled my skin back and distorted my features – it’s enhanced and lifted them.

WHAT WAS IT ABOUT THE HARLEY STREET SKIN CLINIC THAT TOOK YOUR FANCY?

Well - I have it on good authority that Harley Street Skin is the best in the business for their natural results.

I do Benidorm every year - and Joyce Temple Savage [Sherrie's Character on BBC's Benidorm] couldn't suddenly be 25 years old. She is the age she is, but Joyce Temple Savage also wants to look as good as she can. I didn’t want to look 25 years younger or alter my face shape.

And I didn't. It’s just very, very natural - as was promised.

CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE PROCEDURE DAY?

I was very nervous, really quite scared.

I shut my eyes because I didn’t want to see what was coming towards my face. I thought 'whatever they’re doing, I don’t want to know'. I could feel tugging but I didn’t know what it was, but it wasn’t painful.

There was hardly any bruising afterwards either, which surprised me. The improvement was immediate, though, I couldn’t believe what I saw.

HAVE THERE BEEN ANY PERKS THAT YOU WEREN'T EXPECTING?

People have come up to me and said that I look better than I do on the telly. [laughs]

My daughter, Keeley, is loving it too because she knows that I feel happy about myself, which is all she wants. There's been loads of perks.

I actually just did a photoshoot and when I saw a picture I thought it had been photoshopped, but it was just me.

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL PEOPLE THAT WERE ON THE FENCE ABOUT TAKING A SIMILAR ROUTE?

Oh gosh, do it. [laughs]

Before I had a neck which was sagging, like anybody’s is at 64, and I saw the lift in my neck straight away. It even lifted my whole profile up and made me feel better immediately. Then I looked at my cheeks and realised they’d been lifted too.

I want people at home to know exactly how I’ve helped myself to look the best I can for as long as I can. I can’t bear it when celebrities lie about it - I want to be honest and truthful about it because I think there’s nothing wrong with it!

WOULD YOU CONSIDER POPPING BACK TO THE CLINIC IN FUTURE?

I absolutely would.

The recovery time was a very pleasant surprise - if it had been a traditional facelift I’d still be black and blue. I was actually able to get back to normal fairly quickly which was fantastic.

Having this procedure has really sold non-invasive treatments to me. I think it’s the future – if I want anything else done this is the way I’ll do it, no question. People should look for alternatives before going straight to surgery.
