Wake up made up and ready to go!
Perfect for busy career woman and Mums on the go, wake up and walk out the house feeling confident and looking the best you can. Permanent Make-Up liberates you from the time consuming chore of applying make-up. Have a professionally made up face every day. Waterproof Make-up that removes the worry of disappearing, smudged eyeliner, wonky brows, or having to reapply your lipstick throughout the day. Permanent Make-up can last up to 5 years, but if you want it to remain at its finest, a top-up every 12 months is recommended. A top-up is quicker than starting from scratch and this is reflected in its price.
Permanent Make-up, also known as Micropigmentation and Cosmetic tattooing uses a gentle machine to implant pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. It is a safe, effective way of only having to retouch your makeup every year!
BROWS: Over-plucked, Sparse or a Re-shape and Lift:
Add symmetry, definition and neatness. Whether you require natural hair strokes, a soft powdered look or a fully defined block brow, the shape comes first. Time will be taken using the natural bone structure of your features, to create and define your brows for a truly bespoke and enhanced look.
A millimetre here or there makes such a difference. The arch of the brow, the medial starting point and the finishing tail is so important and needs to be positioned precisely. If executed with precision all this can give you a natural uplift, broaden or slim the face shape, and visually revive tired eyes.
EYES: Liner and Lash Enhancement:
We will discuss whether you want a natural lash line so your lashes look thicker, your eyes larger with more definition without looking ‘made up’ or, if you want a slightly stronger outline. Precision is crucial with eyeliner, as to whether it opens up the eyes or closes them.
LIPS: Correcting or Defining the lip-line, Adding Symmetry and Colour
This is an excellent way of subtly replacing lost pigment especially to the outer border of the lips where it most commonly fades as we age. Your lips will look fuller and shapelier. The procedure can help reduce lipstick bleed, ensuring that you have perfect lips at all times.
Each of these procedures are a 3-step process; consultation, initial treatment and retouch.
Firstly, you will need to fill in a medical history form and then we will discuss at length your requirements. You will have a patch test and then we will go through colours together, finding the correct tone to enhance your skin tone and eye colour.
We will review the colour, and then it’s time for your treatment. Medical Tattooing (Permanent Make-up) is the process of implanting pigment into the dermal layer of the skin.
After a lip treatment, your lips are likely to be swollen.
A Retouch is essential between 4-12 weeks after your initial treatment. This enables the fine tuning of colour density and making sure the pigments are retained uniformly.
Skin Camouflage is a special waterproof cosmetic cream used to conceal a wide range of skin conditions and disorders. Camouflage cream is completely safe to use and can be worn every day. It is easy to apply and because it is waterproof you can shower, swim or play sports and it will not run or smudge. Skin Camouflage lasts up to 12hrs on the face and 2-3 days on the body. Skin Camouflage is suitable for:
• Birthmarks (port wine stains)
• Age spots
• Thread veins
• Stretch marks
• Post-surgical discoloration
• Hyper pigmentation
• Uneven skin tone
Patients find that once they have been shown Camouflage Cream application techniques, and the correct colour choice has been found, the results are that you don’t look, or feel, like you have anything on your skin, leaving you free to live your life with renewed confidence and self-esteem.
The benefits of medical tattooing are visual, physical and psychological.
Our patients want to look better, feel confident, to have a say in their appearance, and for some, to finalise their medical journey. I am usually the patients’ last port of call; when all the surgery is completed and a final touch is needed for enhancement.
Medical Tattooing can be used to visually improve scars and stretch marks; to camouflage grafts into the surrounding skin; to restore facial features such as eyebrows, eye definition and lips to add symmetry, cupid’s bow and definition; and to re-pigment vitiligo; and to add nipples and areola to breasts post mastectomy and reconstruction.
Medically graded pigment is placed into the dermal layer with needles. The machine is a lot softer than a normal tattoo machine meaning it can be used on the face and eye area. The pigment will fade over time but may leave residue colour there. Generally bi-annual top ups are required to keep the area looking fresh and defined.
A patch test can be applied to test sensitivity to the pigment and anaesthetic and most treatments range from 30 mins to 2 ad a half hours.
Questions & Answers
A few points to note:
Giving Blood –
The Red Cross advise against giving blood for 4 months following your treatment.
MRI Scans -
Please inform your radiologist that you have a Micropigmentation procedure. It has been known for pigment to show up on a scan. You may also experience a slight tingling.
Do not allow a laser to hit the skin near a pigmented area. You must inform the laser technician who should cover the area as a precaution. Lack of care could cause the pigment to turn black.
How quickly will it heal?
Everyone is different, but as a general rule, the surface skin generally heals between 3 – 7 days after the treatment, and 10 – 14 days below the surface.
How will I look after my treatment?
Brows and eyes tend to look darker in colour for the first few days and then will soften. Lips are likely to have residual swelling and can chap. You may experience swelling with eyeliner treatments. Generally, swelling will be gone in 24 – 48hrs.
Can I wear make-up afterwards?
It’s best to leave the area treated uncovered, a little mineral make-up will be fine, but leave traditional cosmetics until the area has healed.
Will it be painful?
This will depend upon the area, type of skin and your level of sensitivity. It can be painful, but we use anaesthetics before and during the procedure.
How often will I have to come for medical treatments?
It is a multi-treatment process and results cannot be obtained overnight. This will be discussed with you at the consultation and will be entirely dependent on your individual circumstances and requirements.
Treatments can only take place once the area has fully healed, which is approximately 4-8 weeks between sessions.
Are there reasons why I can’t have medical tattooing done?
Yes, there are a few definite reasons which I have listed below:
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding
• You are under 18yrs of age
• The area to be tattooed is not fully healed
• Vitiligo – The area needs to have been in remission for at least 7 years and there is a small chance that Tattooing could stimulate a recurrence
• You are taking Roaccutane or Antabuse – Please leave a 6 month gap before Tattooing
• You have keloid scars
• You are looking to cover a birthmark or port wine stain; you can however use camouflage cream, so please ask about this.
