Large or protruding ears can be an embarrassing problem for both children and adults, which often has a negative impact on self-esteem and confidence. Ear reshaping surgery (Otoplasty) can be performed to set back protruding ears or to reduce the size of large ears.
The procedure involves removing skin and reshaping cartilage from behind the ears. The ears are then stitched into the new position with the incision marks concealed in the crease behind the ear, leaving no signs of surgery.
How many treatments will you need?
The effects of this one-off procedure are permanent. The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic and usually takes two-three hours. It will be necessary to wear bandages around the ears for about a week to allow healing. Once the bandages and stitches are removed the results are immediately visible.
Large ears are reduced in size and protruding ears are set back with immediate results which are permanent.
